Edith Hansen McGill: Vibrant Young Woman of the 1920s

This exhibit features photographs from the album of Edith Hansen McGill, a college woman who attended Pacific University from 1926-1930. The photographs highlight the the new freedoms  young women were beginning to enjoy in the 1920s. As a very active and popular student, she documented college life at a time when American culture was changing rapidly. (See more about Edith.)

Topics of her photographs include women's athletics, camping and the outdoors, swimming and other themes linked in the navigation. You may also search or browse the entire album.

Thank you to Ken McGill, Edith's son and a member of Pacific's Board of Trustees, for donating her album and many other artifacts from the Hansen and McGill families. Descriptions of more material related to the family can be found in the Pacific University Archives & Museum Database.
