Description

Victor Atiyeh served as governor of Oregon from 1979-1987. This is one part of an oral history interview that was originally recorded on over 60 cassette tapes by the Oregon Historical Society. It is accompanied by a typed transcript. This portion covers: Governor Tom McCall's budget of 1973; McCall's school finance program, 1973; sales tax debate, mid 1970s; farm workers labor rights and raising the minimum wage, 1973; obscenity laws in Oregon, mid 1970s; Atiyeh's view of proper morality in United States; role of media in American democracy, early 1990s.
