Description

Victor Atiyeh served as governor of Oregon from 1979-1987. This is one part of an oral history interview that was originally recorded on over 60 cassette tapes by the Oregon Historical Society. It is accompanied by a typed transcript. This portion covers: Environmental issues in 1973 and 1975, Bottle Bill, Litter Bill; his administration compared to Tom McCall; traffic safety; thoughts on Eliza Roseanna Barchus; Education financing; constitutionality of Vietnam War; mass transit debate in 1971; creation of Children's Services division.
