Civil War Letters
A series of letters were sent to Elizabeth Stout Rees from her two sons, David Austin and Corwin Pottenger, both serving for the Union Army. David Austin Rees was drafted into the Union Army in 1864 as a first lieutenant under the command of Brigodier General Lightburn. David Austin died at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain the same year he was drafted, 1864. Corwin Pottenger Rees was not in the same infantry as his brother, David Austin. The infantry that Crowin was a part of resulted in him traveling a lot on foot throughout the South. Corwin worked his way up to be promoted to Head Quarters 2nd Division 13th A.C. before the war ended in 1865.
